|We at Periodontal Surgical Arts, believe in the overall welfare of our patients but also advocate doing our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Following the mandate from Governor Abbott and the Texas Board of Dental Examiners, we are following distancing guidelines. This includes minimizing the number of patients and team members in the practice at one time. Also, patients are being treated one at a time on a personalized basis. We do require that patients wear face masks and screen themselves prior to visiting. Thank you for your understanding.|
We are the first and only periodontal office in central Texas to be certified to use the WaterLase iPlus laser; easily the most advanced dental laser in the world. After more than 20 years of clinical research, we know that specific wavelengths in this laser yield effective periodontal regeneration of tissues, removal of tartar, and bone growth. The WaterLase iPlus is safe for bone as well as soft tissue. The WaterLase combines water, air and laser energy for safe use on tissues in the mouth.
Since the laser continuously sprays out water, it keeps the tissues hydrated preventing heat and giving patients a virtually pain free experience with quicker healing! This laser can be used around implants, for frenectomy procedures, bone contouring, gum attachment procedures, crown lengthening (or gum lifting), and removal of infected, inflamed tissues. Because the laser energy emitted is below the threshold for pain, post-op discomfort is minimal.
Additionally, we are using the most advanced diode laser, the Biolase Epic™. At 940nm wavelength, this laser has been proven to be well absorbed by hemoglobin and oxyhemoglobin. Thus, it is ideal for the removal of diseased, infected, inflamed, and necrosed periodontal gum tissues. For treating gum disease, it is a valuable adjunct to oral hygiene procedures that targets infected tissues in the pocket.
The Fotona Lightwalker laser is our dual wavelength laser utilizing both Nd-Yag and Erbium wavelengths. This enables us to treat a full range of hard and soft tissue applications. Its Quantum Square Pulse (QSP) technology allows for better performance with less discomfort. Additionally, patients that have been diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea can benefit from Nightlase™. The airway can be opened via laser assisted non-ablative collagen contraction. A great adjunct to apnea treatment.
We are the first and only dental surgical specialists in Central Texas to have been trained and utilize the most advanced low level laser Therapy (LLLT) or Photobiomodulation (PBMT) laser, Thor Laser. The photochemical effect of LLLT has been well-documented since 1967 with over 4000 laboratory studies and 500 randomized controlled trials. In fact, on average, 30 papers are being published on LLLT each month. Its effects in humans and animals are like photosynthesis in plants. How does LLLT work? https://youtu.be/VzMJUxalkFo
The clinical benefits are tissue repair, resolution of inflammation, decreased edema or swelling, and decreased pain. For our patients' benefit, we use LLLT complimentary after each surgery.
